Jo Malone Debuts Rare Tea Collection
Following its 2010 exploration of British traditional teas, Jo Malone revisits the theme with perfumer Serge Majoullier to create a brand-new, limited edition Rare Tea Collection using tea buds from Japan, China and India.
The six new colognes smell mesmerizingly familiar yet unusual and are suited for both men and women. "With the new Rare Teas collection, we wanted to create something authentic, that hadn't been done before, but wasn't so quirky as to be unwearable,' says Celine Roux, the brand's fragrance director. "They all have a purity and clarity that is as close to the single-leaf teas as possible; there was no need for a twist."
Black tea from the foothills of the Himalayas with jasmine, freesia and Indian davana.
Oolong tea from China's Jiangsu province mixed with bitter cocoa, tobacco leaf and tonka bean.
Jade Leaf Tea
Sencha tea from the Japanese island of Kyushu, sesame seeds, pomelo and frankincense
Midnight Leaf Tea
Pu-erh tea combined with vanilla, labdanum and guaiac wood.
Golden Leaf Tea
China's Yunnan tea buds with leather, spices, sandalwood and benzoin.
Silver Leaf Tea
White tea leaves traditionally reserved for China's Imperial family with hints of musk, mimosa, bergamot and rose.
With such rare blends also come rare prices for colognes. Each Rare Tea fragrance retails at HK$2900, twice as much as the brand's classic perfumes. In Hong Kong, the collection is available exclusively at Lane Crawford Canton Road, Ocean Terminal (+852 2113 0008).
