When we looked at our phones this morning we noticed something different and slightly wrong - it was the Instagram app! Overnight, Instagram overhauled the look its entire suite of apps including Instagram and Boomering, and updated them with simpler designs to put "more focus on your photos and videos without changing how you navigate the app". Farewell, brown retro polaroid icon that was once considered 'hipster'. And hello to a rainbow-inspired, flatter, more 'modernized' version of the logo. Apparently this new colorful icon is supposed to represent Instagram's diverse community and to bring more warmth and energy to complement the glyph.
Apart from the logo, things inside the app have also gotten a facelift. The user interface is now completely rid of the teal-blue and has instead been replaced by a cleaner white-and-black look. Usernames, location tags, and likes are now all in black. Even the photo sharing icon in the center couldn't escape the rebrand.
If you haven't yet, update your Instagram app and have a look yourself. Are you digging it?
