Atelier Versace SS16

Athletic Couture

The trend for ahtleisure clothing is still going strong, and with Donatella Versace's Spring 2016 couture collection, this further strengthens its place in the fashion world. Working in her renowned cut-outs on fitted dresses, suits and separates, the collection is none other than a celebration of femininity, dynamism and the beauty of the female body.

While you may not necessarily work out in these, you would certainly look every part the cool and confident Versace woman that Donatella so strongly believes in. Opening the show was a series of white on white jumpsuits with yellow and orange highlights found on straps and harnesses. The energy keeps growing with the transition to more cut-outs and hand-crocheted pieces that are linked together by flocked chains and ropes of Swarovski crystal. Suddenly, electric blue and black take over the runway, while cuts become shorter and more revealing. Donatella's couture collection is inevitably sexy and subtly provocative, finishing off with gowns and tuxedos that seem to have exploded, held together merely with extravagant kinds of Swarovski ropes.
