The Valentino Haute Couture FW16 Show was as lush, daring and romantically enticing as its inspiration of William Shakespeare's theatrical masterpieces. Distinctly Elizabethan collars and sleeves effortlessly dance with iconic Valentino sheer dresses and modernised knee-length buckle boots to create a collection that is both timeless and fearlessly intriguing.
The collection is an amorous play on love, life and death. Show notes point to an overall penetration of the human spirit, with Shakespeare's intermingling of characters, personalities, roles and personas. Each look is an embodiment of an intrepid soul - explorers and adventurers waiting for their time to break free and shine. Though based on a palette of black, red and dark shades of army green and purple, the show is surprisingly optimistic and uplifting.
