Following Zara's release of its 'ungendered' clothing line earlier this month, Valentino have also come out with its own unisex capsule collection, Rockstud Untitled, celebrating its iconic studs and drawing inspiration from the Japanese philosophy wabi-sabi, which vaguely translates to 'nothing is perfect'.
This collection dives back into basics from plain tees and coats to crew neck sweaters and sneakers. According to Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, "the binding component is the studs". A part of each item has been detached and adjusted using golden studs instead of traditional stitching.
In terms of quality and craftsmanship, it's no surprise that Valentino trumps high street brands, but the designs do seem to be quite common renditions of popular staples (which is always welcome and would be a great fit for your everyday wardrobe).
The best aspect from this collection, however, is the casting. The brand is evidently trying to mix things up a bit from its traditional all-white campaigns. But if this is a unisex collection, where are the boys?
