Yellow, pink, camel and white, the usual suspects at Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli's younger sister line, REDValentino, were contrasted this upcoming Pre-Fall with a striking, 70's inspired black, transforming the Collection from its typical young teen girl to a more sophisticated woman. Influenced by Robert Altman's movie, 3 Women, Pre-Fall was introduced to the dreamy, nostalgic landscapes of California in the Seventies, melding together a collection that's slightly retro and outré, while still carrying Valentino's DNA and signature embroidery and impeccable craftsmanship.
Taking a step away from RED's regular mini skirts, hearts and pastels, Chiuri and Piccioli decided to bring in unmissable suede trenches, midi-lengths, and classic embroidery of flowers and birds to Pre-Fall 2016. High-neck prairie dresses, suitable for any music festival, dotted along the Collection. Modestly sheer dresses, off-shoulder tops, and high-waisted pieces brought out a modern country girl who's not afraid of anything, while studded jeans and camouflaged military jackets took the Collection on a walk through the Wild West. Topping each look off were matching ankle-strapped heels and leather boots, as well as suede and grainy leather embroidered shoulder bags and top handles.
