All hail the pioneer of modern day street style photography, Tommy Ton. Having left his roles at Style.com and Vogue Runway last year, he's continued shooting for his own website and has just shot Michael Kors' first ever street style inspired campaign "The Walk".
Celebrating its fall handbag collection, the casual and effortless series features Solange Knowles, Soo Joo Park, Nina Agdal and Princess Olympia of Greece. Each star was given the freedom to style their own look to make the shoot feel more genuine and reflect everyday life. This is a huge step away from the brand's traditionally high-gloss imagery lensed by Mario Testino. "The Walk" is intended to be the first in an ongoing series, which will feature new muses every season.
It isn't surprising for those of you who haven't heard of Tommy before but find his style familiar. He's shot tons of our favorite fashion bloggers running from show to show at fashion week, like this shot of Nicole and Chiara at couture week.
Perhaps this campaign can help Kors connect closer to his customers. But perhaps customers don't want something so relatable? After all, people want what they don't have, right?
What do you think about street style campaigns like this? Do you prefer it over traditional glossy campaigns?
